The BJP members staged a protest at the party office against leadership move to induct former Congress MP Jagdambika Pal in the party saying this move will prove detrimental for the party.
The members of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), carried an effigy of Pal and set it on fire outside party headquarters on Sunday sending a warning to the party leadership about workers’ anger it might face of former Comgress MP was inducted in the party.
The protests were staged after there were reports about Pal meeting party’s national president Rajnath Singh in New Delhi. That meeting sparked speculations about Pal joining BJP and he might be given party ticket from Dumariaganj - the lok Sabha constituency he had won in 2009 polls.
The rumours are rife for last many weeks about Pal joining BJP after he resigned from the Congress. The workers in Basti too opposed Pal’s inclusion in the party. Workers have written letters to Rajnath Singh saying if Pal contests election as BJP candidate it will affect party’s prospect in Basti and Dumariaganj.
