To protest undemocratic attitude of the opposition parties in gagging the working of Parliament BJP workers led by party MPs staged one day fast across Uttar Pradesh saying it was at attempt to muzzle parliamentary democracy.
The protest was led by party’s state president Dr Manehndra Nath Pandey who held fast in Chandauli while in Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the protest was led by Union Health Minister JP Nadda.
“This unparliamentary behaviour has not gone well with the people. They will give a befitting reply to the political parties who block the working in lok sabha and Rajya sabha by staging protests. The walkouts and noisy scenes have blocked the passage of many important bills which is very unfortunate,” Dr Pandey said in his address in Chandauli, his parliamentary constituency.
BJP spokesman Harish Srivastava said that leaders observed fast between 10 am and 4 pm. Rail Minister Manoj Sinha led protest in Ghazipur while Kaushal Kishore sat on fast in lucknow. MoS Finance Shhiv Pratap Shukla led protest in Ghaziabad, Srivastava said.
