The BJP won seven seats in the just concluded district panchayat polls claiming that the party was able to excel despite machination by the SP leaders and ministers. “The Samajwadi Party had claimed cent per cent victory but the BJP was able to deflate the tall claim by bagging seven seats despite all odds,” BJP state chief Dr laxmi Kant Bajpai said in lucknow on Thursday. The BJP won in Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Bijnore, Mathura, Shahajahanpur, Fatehpur and Maharajganj.
Bajpai said that party had contested 13 seats but ruling party mis-used government machinery to influence the polls. “It is no longer a secret that SP leaders beat up opposition leaders and workers and prevented them from filling papers,” he said. “Despite huge government interference in this elections, the party was able to win seven seats which is very creditable,” BJP state president said and added that this victory will give confidence to party workers and they would work unitedly for the assembly elections slated for 2017.
leader of BJP legislature party Suresh Khanna too congratulated the party winners. He said that in Sahajahanpur the winner Ajai Pratap Singh is just 22 years old and has defeated Nitu Singh of Samajwadi party by six votes.
BJP spokesman Dr Chandramohan said that desperation in ruling Samajwadi party was palpable as all most all senior leaders and ministers wanted their relatives to contest the election. “The infighting within ruling party has come to the fore,” he said.
