Predicting Bharatiya Janata Party's victory in the forthcoming assembly elections in five states, former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh said the party would emerge more stronger after these polls as people now wanted to get rid of the corrupt Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government.
He said the assembly elections in the five states would be the semi-finals of the 2014 lok Sabha polls. "The people are fed up with the corruption rampant in Congress regime, the 'goonda raj' for Samajwadi Party rule and 'lootraj' of the Bahujan Samaj Party. They now want a change," Singh said while talking to reporters at the Udyan Park where Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi addressed a rally on Saturday.
"The wind favouring BJP will sweep across the country after the assembly elections in five states, including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Mizoram," he said. The former Chief Minister of UP, who is an independent MP from Etah, claimed that BJP would give its best in these assembly elections as they were a sort of semi-finals to the parliamentary polls ahead.
The veteran leader said that he had not joined the party and would take oath of membership after completion of some formalities. On being questioned about contesting the coming lok Sabha election. Singh said he desired to contest the next poll from Etah parliamentary seat. "It all depends on the BJP. It is for the party to decide whom it wants to field (from Etah)," he said.
