Even as the opposition parties in Uttar Pradesh are yet to come to terms with the ignominious defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, the ruling BJP on Wednesday will be reviewing the poll results to introspect reasons for the party’s loss on 16 seats of the state.
The review meeting has been convened by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and will be attended by state BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey, Deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya & Dinesh Sharma, and members of the core committee.
Former Union minister and MP from Gautam Budh Nagar Mahesh Sharma will also attend the meeting to be held at the CM’s official residence at 5 KD Marg on Wednesday evening. Yogi will also host a dinner to celebrate the party’s thumping victory.
Sources in the BJP said that the meeting would be attended by officials of the state BJP along with other leaders who were involved in the recently-concluded elections. Invitations would also be given to the winning MPs and losing candidates to share their experiences about the elections and to propose remedial measures, the sources said.
Opposition parties Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party-Rashtriya Lok Dal alliance and Congress have yet to analyse reasons of their disastrous loss in the elections. The opposition has also not called for party meetings to introspect the poll debacle.
