With an objective of making law and order a poll plank, the state unit of BJP will hold a week-long dharna at four districts from November 25. The dharnas will be organised at Kannauj, Aligarh, Varanasi and Azamgarh and were recently witness to a spiral in violent incidents.
Incidentally, Kannauj is the Parliamentary constituency of Dimple Yadav, wife of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Azamgarh is represented by Mulayam Singh Yadav in the lok Sabha while Varanasi is the PM’s constituency.
BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that to galvanise the party workers for these dharnas, state chief Dr laxmi Kant Bajpai has convened a meeting of party workers from these districts from November 19 to 22.
“Though law and order has become a big issue in UP, the party will raise Gagan murder in Aligarh, violence during Durga idol immersion in Kannauj, murder of corporator Shiv Seth in Varanasi and murder of Sihasan Yadav in Azamgarh during these protest dharnas,” Pathak said on Tuesday.
Besides local leaders, party MlAs and MPs are also expected to take part in the dharna. Party will send representatives from the headquarters to these districts to meet local leaders and workers.
