BJP team to probe exodus of Hindus from Kairana

The state BJP has decided to take up the mass exodus of Hindu families from Kairana town of Shamli district (west UP) in a big way and it will soon send a high-level team to the town to assess the ground situation.

"An 11-member team of MPs, mostly from west UP, would be sent by the BJP to come out with the factual situation prevailing at Kairana. The names of the MPs will be announced soon. The fact-finding team will submit a report to the state BJP unit at the earliest," state BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya said in lucknow on Friday.

Maurya said that the issue raised by BJP MP from Kairana, Hukum Singh was very serious.

Recently, MP and former Union minister Hukum Singh had said that there had been a mass exodus of Hindu families from Kairana town over the past two years. The leader released a list of 346 families that had fled their homes leaving behind their properties. “They were being targeted and persecuted by another community,” Singh alleged.

The MP said the list mentioned only families of Kairana and if those who migrated from other parts of the district were included, the number would be more than a thousand.

Hukum Singh went to the extent of saying that there had been at least 10 communal killings in the town and in the past three years, it had virtually become a 'new Kashmir'.

Singh also claimed that he had met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh last week and the latter is likely to visit Kairana in June-end to take stock of the ground reality.

Meanwhile, Maurya alleged that the state of affairs in UP was miserable with ' jungle raj' prevailing everywhere. He said that while the ruling SP was only working for a particular caste and community and minting money through illegal works, the BSP was targeting Dalits for vote bank politics.

"There have been at least 10 to 12 incidents of Dalit atrocities in Azamgarh, Pratapgarh and other place during the last one month, but the BSP did not deem it fit to react. It seems it is only interested in Dalits issues of Haryana and Hyderabad," said Maurya.

The state BJP chief said that the 2017 Assembly polls in UP would be an eye-opener as both the SP and the BSP would be rejected by the people and the BJP would form the government with absolute majority.
