BJP targets Robert Vadra

Published on:

Seeking to demolish the defence of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in favour of her husband Robert Vadra, BJP launched a frontal attack on Robert alleging him of mustering huge wealth with the support  of Congress-ruled states in the country.

"Priyanka may be raising questions on Gujarat development plan but will she clarify how her husband Robert Vadra accumulated crores of wealth, starting from a few lakhs  in such a short span,' chief media coordinator of BJP Ravi Shankar Prasad said here at a press conference on Friday.

He said to defend her husband was not bad, but she owed a clarification on Robert's spiralling fortunes.

Counter questioning her sudden activity in the political scene, the senior BJP leader remarked Priyanka's pro-active wordplay was necessitated due to failure of her brother and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.

Congress' star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi, during her election campaign in Rae Bareli, Parliamentary constituency of her mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi, had hit back at the opposition for allegations against her husband.

Making a direct allegation on the previous Gehlot government of Rajasthan and the Hooda government in Haryana for giving unethical help to Vadra, BJP leader said the land deal in favour of Vadra was changed.

'An honest IAS officer Ashok Khemka had to face  punishment for revealing the murky deal in this regard,' he further alleged.

In reply to a question, Prasad made it clear that according to party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, if BJP came to power, it would not be vindictive against anybody, but the law would take its own course.

Describing the crowd gathered in Varanasi during Modi's nomination from lok Sabha seat there as 'historic', he said people had aptly replied to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's statement that there was no 'Modi wave' in the country.

He claimed that people of this country were looking up to Modi with a lot of faith and confidence.

The senior BJP leader said his party was opposed to the supplementary manifesto in which reservation to Muslims was promised. ''The matter is sub-judice and moreover, this is the

attempt of Congress to take the polity on communal lines,'' he pointed out.

Prasad also sought clarification from Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party as in case of Muslim reservation, the quota of Dalits and backwards would be reduced automatically.

He also came down on the UPA government at the Centre for appointing special CBI director at a time when the new government was just 22 days away. Seeking intervention of the Election Commission to stop the appointment immediately, he said Congress was consolidating its

defence after it lost the elections.
