BJP state Prez issues show cause notice to MP and MlAs

State BJP president Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey issued a show cause notice to three law makers – an MP and two MlAs – from Sitapur and lakhimpur Kheri for indiscipline in public places thereby giving a bad name to the party.

The letter issued by BJP general secretary Vidysagar Sonkar on Pandy’s advise on Monday asked BJP MP from Sitapur Rekha Verma and two party MlAs Shashank Trivedi (Maholi in Sitapur) and Yogesh Verma (lakhimpur Khiri Sadar) to reply within a week as to why action should not taken against them.

On January 13, supporters of BJP MP from Sitapur, Rekha Verma clashed with supporters of local MlA Shahshank Trivedi over distribution of blankets in Dhaurara. The supporters threw chairs at each other forcing police to intervene. The police ordered a probe and ASP North was conducting an enquiry after which he would report to the government.

The same day, BJP MlA from Kheri Sadar Yogesh Verma clased with supporters of former president Shyam Pandey and smashed property of Pandey’s office. The clash was over selection of candidates for co-operative elections.

“Both incidents have brought bad name to the party. The BJP can not tolerate such indiscipline and therefore a show cause notice has been issued to the public representatives,” a party release issued on Monday said.

This is not the first time BJP leaders were seen abusing each other in public or browbeat officials.

On Saturday last, during an anti-encroachment drive, the police arrested a person in Bhagat Singh Market in Meerut. BJP workers reached the SP City’s office demanding that the release of the arrested. One of the leaders told the SP City: “Aap ne ise nahi choda to SP se sipahi bana dunga (I will make you a constable from SP if you did not release him ).

Early last week, a senior BJP leader’s son in Amroha was found guilty of raping a girl and illegally keeping her in an undisclosed location for two days.

In Amethi, local MlA Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh revolted against Minister of state Suresh Pasi, who also belongs to Amethi. Singh even threatened to resign.
