BJP state president writes to district president for identifying people forced to leave native place

With an aim to keeping the issue of `exodus’ alive, state BJP president Keshav Prasad Maurya has written to district presidents to identify people, if any, in their area who were forced to leave their native place due to persecution.

The letter written earlier this week, however does not harp on religious angle but says that people of any community who were forced to leave his native place against his wishes, be contacted and a detailed report be sent to the state BJP office.

“The report should contain name of person/s who left their native place and the reason behind their exodus. The list should be exhaustive and contain details of the last four years since Akhilesh Yadav government came to power,” Maurya said in his letter.

After the SP government was pushed to the backfoot over the exodus of people in Kairana, the BJP wants to keep the issue alive. last week too, the VHP came up with a list claiming that over 40 people were forced to leave their homes in Saharanpur. The VHP too has started a state wide campaign to verify exodus.

Senior VHP functionary Ved Prakash Sachchan said that other kind of exodus has also taken place. “We are preparing a list of displaced people with the help of past and present voters’ list. The survey is being conducted as per directives of the central leadership,” he said.

“We have reports to confirm that over 100 families have migrated from Agra. People are moving out of Saharanpur. The exodus among Hindus is more profound than among Muslims. This is an area of concern for the VHP,” Sachchan said.

He said there are identified cities where population of Hindus have come down. In districts of Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Sambhal, Shamli, Amroha, Bijnor and Rampur — the Hindu populace has come down from 15 per cent to 8 per cent,” Sachchan commented.

“We have asked our volunteers to identify the reason of this decline in Hindu population. One report suggests that Hindus prefer to leave those localities which are surrounded by Muslims. Why this exodus – this is a big question,” he opined.
