BJP spending crores on campaigns just to woo the voters : Akhilesh

Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party state unit president Akhilesh Yadav accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of spending crores on campaigning to woo the voters on the basis of “fake popularity” and not on “real work”.

“The BJP has so far spent no less than Rs 1000 crores on campaigning for its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. The big question is from where the party has got so such of money,” Yadav said while addressing an election meeting in favour of the SP’s Bareilly candidate hereon Wednesday.

“It is ultimately the people’s money which is being misused. With this money the party is spreading lies about the development of Gujarat, he said and added: “Modi talks about development, but the truth is that Gujarat lags in terms of development in comparision with Uttar Pradesh,” CM said.

Claiming that the SP-led UP government was sincere towards development of the state, Yadav said that UP is lagging only terms of spreading the message around. “So much of work is being done in last two years. No Government can even think of doing it in five years what samajwadi Party did in two years, he said.

About Congress he said that this age-old party stands no where in Uttar Pradesh. People have ssen how UPA-II has performed. People want to get rid of both Congress and the BJP, he said.

Yadav further lambasted the erstwhile Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party government saying its five year rule has taken country almost 25 years back. “Mayawati misused peoples’ money on installing busts and constructing memorials while SP Government used very penny of people’s mony in development work,” he said.
