Seeking an unconditional apology from Mohammad Azam Khan for his statement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not wish the minority community on Eid, the Bharatiya Janata Party state spokesman said the senior Cabinet minister was an “ill-informed person”.
Reacting to Khan’s statement, BJP state spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak said, “Khan always lies to create communal rift in society.”’During a function, Khan had reportedly said that the Prime Minister was a small-hearted person as he did not wish the Muslims during the Eid festival.Quoting the PIB statement of October 6, Pathak said: “The UP Minister should find out the details first and then only give such controversial statement.”
The PIB report for the print and electronic media released on October 6 says, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted the people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Greetings on Eid-ul-Fitr. May this auspicious day strengthen the bond of peace, unity & brotherhood across our Nation, the Prime Minister said.”
“The BJP Government treats each and every citizen of the country equally and people like Khan poison minds of Muslims for vested interests,” Pathak said.
He asked Khan not to make such comment which could create communal disparity.
