The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday released the first list of its candidates for the three-tier panchayat elections. The list comprises around 800 candidates for 20 districts where elections will be held in the first phase.

BJP spokesman Manish Dixit said that the first list was released after the names of the candidates were discussed in a meeting of the party officials associated with the panchayat elections in the presence of Party state president Swatantra Dev Singh and state general secretary (organisation) Sunil Bansal.

While addressing party workers in a virtual meeting, the BJP state president said that all elections were important for the party and therefore all the workers had to work with full determination to win the polls. He said people's representatives, party office=bearers and prominent leaders of the district should plan and work in the panchayat elections.

"Make door-to-door contact with people in every village and reach out to the common voter with an appeal to vote for BJP," he said.

Singh said that on the foundation day of the party on April 6, the booth presidents and the members of the booth committee should put a party flag at their houses and celebrate the party's foundation day at the booths.

The meeting was conducted by the BJP state vice-president and state in-charge of panchayat elections, Vijay Bahadur Pathak. He said to ensure that there was no error in the nomination form, lawyers associated with the legal cell had been asked to help the candidates.
