BJP refuses to divulge anything on its leadership issue

With pressure building up on the state leadership to go to the Assembly polls with a CM face, state BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya refused to divulge anything on the issue saying the party brass will take a final call.

"The national executive meeting at Allahabad would certainly focus on UP polls besides issues like Mathura violence. The issue to project CM or not in the state, is a matter for the national executive to decide in which the state unit has no role," Maurya, who is a BJP MP from Phulpur (Allahabad) said.

Commenting on speculations of Rajnath Singh being the front runner for the CM’s post, Maurya said that Singh is a senior party leader besides being a Union minister and a member of the party's Parliamentary Committee. It is up to the national leadership to decide.

Maurya, however, did not rule out the possibility of the national executive meet discussing whether the party should project someone as CM or not.

"Our main motto is a  'SP- BSP mukt UP'. It will be done in the next elections as both parties have looted the state exchequer. The SP government would be remembered for grabbing government lands while the BSP’s corrupt deeds are known to everyone,” he said.
