In an attempt to corner the state government on the law and order front, the BJP raised the issue of murder of senior VHP functionary Arun Mahore in Agra charging that the crime rate has spiralled by many times in UP and the government has failed to take any corrective steps.

BJP legislature party leader Suresh Khanna said during Zero Hour that the killing of Mahore was a challenge as the killers had earlier declared that they would eliminate him. “A formal complaint was lodged with police, yet he was killed,” Khanna said.

The BJP demanded a compensation of Rs 50 lakh and a job for the wife of the deceased. Parliamentary Affairs minister Azam Khan said that he would look into matter.

The suicide of Rohith Vemula was also rocked the Assembly on Friday when Congress raised the issue of attack on students who were protesting against the Union government. “The protesters were carrying the Tricolor but the youth wing of the BJP grabbed that flag and beat up protesting students,” ClP leader Pradeep Mathur said.

Parliamentary Affairs minister, Azam Khan said that the BJP is now busy redefining the meaning of nationalism. “This attack on protesting students is condemnable. Action will be taken against the guilty,” he said.

Manish Asija (BJP) raised the issue of Nagar Palika officials in Ferozabad fleecing people in the name of tax. These officials do not listen to any one and have imposed unwaranty taxes against people. The Parliamentary Affairs minister said that the issue was serious and the government would look into it.

BSP on the other hand raised the issue of neglect of parks built by the Mayawati government. “These parks need immediate repairs. At night, these parks remain in pitch darkness and have become the den of anti-socials. The government has neglected these parks because of political vendetta,” BSP leader Swamy Prasad Maurya said. The government offered that the concerned department would look into the matter.
