The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has questioned Samajwadi Party’s decision to organize Saifai fest and spend crores when eight people died of cold in last 24 hours in the state. BJP spokesman Dr Manoj Mishra said that Samajwadi party government spent crores in cultural programme but does not have enough money to provide relief to the people facing this brutal cold.
“It seems Government is working on two opposite tangents. On one hand it is seeking funds for development from the Union Government but on the other it is spending crores in ferrying Bollywood stars from Mumbai and organizing this fest in imported tents,” BJP spokesman said. He said CM’s priority seems skewed. He failed to go to Gandhi Nagar to attend Prabasi Bharatiya Diwas because of fog but cine star managed to reach Saifai in same weather. “This clearly shows CM had no plans to attend NRI meet,” he said. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhry said that Saifai Festival gave an opportunity to the local artisans to market their goods. This also gave a platform to local artists and sportsmen to showcase their talent.
“It was a mela meant for the villagers who are deprived of urban glitter. Criticism in orgainising this mahotasava is meaning less,” Chaudhry said in a statement issued here.
