BJP politicizing surgical strike issue: Maya

Within 24 hours of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s attack on the BJP accusing it of capitalising on Army's surgical strike in Pak-occupied Kashmir (PoK), now BSP chief Mayawati lashed out at the ruling safforn party for 'politicising' the issue for taking mileage in the 2017 Assembly polls.

"I strongly condemn the BJP's act in this context. While the country is hailing the Amry's brave feat, the BJP leaders and ministers are leaving no stones unturned to reap political harvest by being feted across UP," she alleged.

In a statement released on Friday, Mayawati alleged that efforts were being made to vitiate the atmosphere communally. "Hoardings and posters hailing BJP leaders as the real heroes of the strike are being put up while the Army has been releagted to the backset, which is unfortunate," she added.

Cautioning to people to be wary both the BJP and the SP, the former CM said both were trying to confuse them in the name of surgical strike or on development.

"The situation in the international border is tense and such politics will only demoralise our soldiers. The Centre should focus on that front and refrain from doing politics," she advised. On Thursday, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had criticised the Narendra Modi government for doing politics over the surgical strikes and termed it as 'khoon ki dalali'.
