BJP plays Emotional card for Kairana, Noorpur Assembly seats

Playing the emotional card, Bharatiya Janata Party announced kin of former MP and MlA as candidates for bypolls to Kairana lok Sabha and Noorpur Assembly seats. The bypolls will  be held on May 28.

Taking a bitter lesson from the ignominious defeat in Gorakhpur and Phulpur lok Sabha bypolls, the BJP left nothing to chance and tried to ride over sympathy wave to win the two imminent byelections.

BJP spokesman said that Mriganka Singh would be the candidate from Kairana lok Sabha seat while Avani Singh would contest from Noorpur Assembly seat.

Mriganka is the daughter of late BJP MP Hukum Singh while Avani Singh is the widow of late two-time BJP MlA from Noorpur in Bijnore lokendra Singh.

Mriganka had contested the 2017 Assembly poll from Kairana constituency (an Assembly segment by the same name) but lost to SP candidate Nahid Hasan. Nahids’s mother Tabassum is contesting from Kairana lok Sabha seat this time on a RlD ticket. Election for both seats will be held on May 28 and the results will be declared on May 31.

The Kairana lok Sabha seat fell vacant after the death of sitting BJP MP Hukum Singh while Noorpur Assembly seat was vacated after two-time BJP MlA lokendra Singh died in a car accident on lucknow-Agra Expressway while en route to lucknow to attend Investor’s Summit on February 21.
