Apna Dal (Sonelal), the sulking ally of Bharatiya Janata Party, has asked the senior partner to mend its ways and treat the allies with respect or be ready to face the music during the Lok Sabha elections.
Apna Dal has two MPs and nine MLAs in Uttar Pradesh assembly.
“The BJP leadership continues to treat its allies with contempt and disdain and has ignored our long pending demands. This is an unfortunate situation and the rank and file of Apna Dal (S) are no longer ready to face the humiliation and this will affect the electoral prospects of the BJP in the coming Lok Sabha elections,” said Apna Dal (S) president Ashish Patel here on Monday after the monthly meeting of the party.
His wife and Union Minister of State Anupriya Patel was also present in the meeting.
Later, talking to the media, Ashish Patel said that the BJP was ignoring the alliance partners and their ministers and their demands were not being met.
Furious over the reported statement of their opponent group of Krishna Patel that it was in touch with the BJP, Ashish said the ruling party was not following the coalition dharma honestly.
“BJP is trying to give birth to Vibhishan by trying to talk with our opponents,” he said. Krishna Patel is the mother of Anupriya Patel and heads the Apna Dal (Krishna) faction.
Ashish, who is an MLC, said that the party had already demanded posting of 50 per cent policemen in police stations in all districts from backward and Dalit communities but the demand had been ignored so far.
“In the district, either the district magistrate or the district police chief should be from Dalit or backward communities,” he said.
“We have no opposition in splitting the 27 per cent quota within the quota for Most Backward Classes. The government should first order reservation as per the population then only it should be divided,” he said.
