BJP not averse to using names of sants to get political mileage : Akhilesh

Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav said that it was unfortunate that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is not averse to using names of sants and reverend figures to get political mileage.

“Prime Minister want to maghar to influence the minds of crores of followers of Sant Kabir spread across the country. This was done with an aim toinfluence weavers’ community and dalits. This is unfortunate that Sant Kabir spread the message of unity while BJP and Prime Minister Modi are using the same sant to divide society on caste and religious lines,” Yadav said here in Thursday.

In a written statement issued here he said that Kabir had advocated that people should not differentiate between Mandir and Masjid. He even attacked those who talked about caste which is reflected in the couplet where he wrote Jaat na puchcho saadhu ki”, said Yadav. “The BJP does the opposite. It creates chasm in the society on the name of mandir and masjid and differentiates people on the caste lines,” he said. “But in Maghar Prime Minister is talking about peace, equality and social harmony, which incidentally is not in the DNA of the BJP,” he said. Former Chief Minister even said that BJP is scared of the unity of Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party because the BJP leadership knows that in the face of united opposition the ruling party will be wiped out.
