BJP national leaders held a meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his cabinet colleagues to chalk out the strategy for the 2022 UP Assembly elections amidst speculations of lack of coordination between the party and government.

BJP national secretary (organisation)  BL Santosh and UP incharge Radha Mohan Singh held an almost 3-hour meeting with the ministers and asked them about the progress of different departments and how they can project the same in the next sankalp patra (election manifesto).

Besides the chief minister, his two deputies also took part in the meeting. Former state presidents Vinay Katiyar, Laxmi Kant Bajpayi and Ramapati Shastri were also in attendance. BJP state president Swatantra Dev Singh and secretary (organisation) Sunil Bansal also attended the meeting.

“The meeting fine-tuned the party’s strategy for the 2022 elections which will be based on the government’s achievements. The promises made during 2017 and how many of them were fulfilled were discussed in detail,” source said. Only cabinet ministers were invited to the meeting.

The sources told this reporter that the cabinet ministers were asked to prepare a report card of their respective departments so that the theme of the 2022 elections could be finalised.

During his last visit to Lucknow almost three weeks ago, Santosh had met ministers individually to know about the progress of the government.

It was the second day of the meeting of senior RSS and BJP leaders with the party officials and the chief minister. On Monday, Santosh held a series of meetings with the BJP workers and RSS leaders and later in the day, he held a meeting with CM Yogi Adityanath. The meeting was also attended by Deputy CMs Dr Dinesh Sharma and Keshav Prasad Maurya.

On Tuesday morning, the national leaders met BJP office-bearers where the strategy for panchayat elections was discussed. The party leaders were asked to ensure victory of at least 65 district panchayat president candidates.
