The much-hyped micro donation campaign of the Bharatiya Janata Party has failed to take off in Uttar Pradesh as only nine ministers in the Yogi Adityanath government have contributed to this campaign
A senior BJP leader said here on Saturday that the party workers, senior leaders and ministers were asked to donate for the party fund through micro-donation. “The party got a good response from workers and leaders but the ministers practically showed no interest in this campaign and they stayed away from the donation box,” the leader said.
The ministers who made donations in the interest of the party include Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Baby Rani Maurya, Bhupendra Choudhary, Anil Rajbhar, Jaiveer Singh, Nitin Agarwal, Sanjay Gangwar and Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu.
At the same time, three Union ministers who belong to Uttar Pradesh contributed to the fund. They include BL Verma, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and Pankaj Chaudhary.
The BJP had started a micro donation campaign on December 25, 2021, on former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary, under which donations ranging from Rs 5 to Rs 1,000 were made in the party fund. The campaign aimed to raise funds through small contributions from its members and others.
Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi donated Rs 1,000.
In UP this campaign was initiated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in March, after assembly elections and he too made a donation of Rs 1,000.
“We appreciate the leaders and these 12 ministers who contributed to this fund,” the party spokesman said.
