BJP legislature to donate one month salary to farmers

Extending a helping hand to the farmers who lost their crop in rains and hail storm, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislature party has decided to donate one month salary of the members in Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday BJP legislature party leader Suresh Kumar Khanna said that the decision to donate one month salary of the party’s legislature was taken with a view to provide relief to the farmers.

The party has 41 members in the assembly and seven in the legislative council. “This is really shocking that state government is indifferent to the plight of farmers who lost their crop. The BJP law makers are doing their bit by donating one month’s salary in CM’s relief fund so that Government could extend relief,” Khanna said in a statement.

UP government has assessed a crop loss of over Rs 6000 crore in 65 districts of the state due to rains amid reports of over 200 farmers dying due to shock or committing suicides. Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati has already asked her party legislators and MPs to donate one month salary to the farmers. She has asked them to distribute money directly to farmers instead of donating it in CM’s relief fund. UP’s PWD minister Shiv Pal Singh Yadav too had donated his one month’s salary for the cause.
