less than 24 hours ago, Modi's elevation as BJP poll panel chief for the 2014 lok Sabha elections was met with frenzied celebrations. However on Monday, the mood at the BJP office became sombre and was gripped with a state of confusion with the sudden resignation of party ideologue lK Advani from all posts of the party.
State BJP leaders shied away from speaking on the issue unsure of which way the ongoing political drama would unfold in the coming days.
"Silence, wait and watch is the need of the hour," said a state BJP office bearer, admitting that the rank and file was caught in a web of confusion, shock and sadness after a few days of rejuvenated hope of resplacing the Congress led UPA at the Centre.
Meanwhile, former UP chief minister and Independent MP Kalyan Singh has urged lK Advani to withdraw his resignation in the larger intrest of the party.
Considered close to Advani during his hey days in the BJP, Kalyan Singh praised the efforts of the former Deputy PM in establishing the BJP to where it stands at present.
On Sunday, Kalya Singh had welcomed the elevation of Narendra Modi claiming that a Modi-wave was underway not only in UP but in the rest of the country.
