In eastern Uttar Pradesh BJP is facing a strange predicament. Its leaders are openly campaigning for rival candidates giving a damn to party diktat to support BJP candidates. The point in case is BJP MlA from Bansi, Jai Prakash Singh, who is campaigning for his wife Vasundhara Kumar, a Congress candidate in the lok Sabha elections.
Singh has come out open to lead the campaign of his wife who is a Congress candidate from Doomariaganj lok Sabha seat. The MlA was demanding the BJP ticket from the seat, but surprisingly, Jagdambika Pal, the sitting Congress MP switched over to BJP and got the ticket. Congress in return gave ticket to the wife of the MlA.
According to the reports, the MlA has been giving full time to his wife's campaign. He has been asked to assist Pal but he has refused to oblige party leaders. Polling in Doomariyaganj seat will be held on May 12.
Another party candidate Kalraj Mishra is facing wrath of Surya Pratap Sahi supporters in Deoria. He is being greeted with black flags wherever he is going. Party leadership has denied ticket to Shahi and replaced him with Mishra. Reports of rebellion in BJP are being reported from Bahraich, Mirzapur, Bhadohi, Machchlishahar and Pratapgarh. Demands are being raised to change candidates.
Refuting these reports state president laxmikant Bajpai said there was no move to change any candidates now as the selection was made by the Central Election Committee (CEC) after going through all the aspects.
"There is no truth about media reports that candidates from Deoria, Jaunpur, Machlishahr and some others could be changed," he said.BJP spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak in a statement said that the announced candidates have already launched their campaign in a big way and there is no question of changing them at this moment.
