BJP lashes out on UP Govt

Hitting out at the state government, the BJP pointed out that at a time when the people of Bundelkhand are forced to eat rotis made of grass, CM Akhilesh Yadav is claiming all round development in the state.

“What kind of development is this IJ People of Bundelkhand are forced to eat rotis made of grass and state government is claiming that it has extended all kinds of relief to the drought-hit region,” BJP spokesman Dr Manoj Mishra said in a statement in lucknow on Sunday.

The inhabitants of Naraini village in Banda had recently shown rotis to the members of a committee set up by the Supreme Court, Harsh Mandar and Dr Sajjad Hasan. They complained of starvation deaths and apprised the committee of the hardships they were facing. The committee members had assured to show the 'grass roti' to Supreme Court judges.

“This is an irony that the SP government spent over Rs 100 crore for the birthday bash of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav but did not have money to extend relief to starving people of drought-hit Bundelkhand,” Dr Mishra said.

The BJP spokesman further said a day before Mulayam's birthday bash at Saifai (Etawah), the UP government announced 50 districts of  the state as drought hit. A good gesture would have been to cancel the birthday bash and divert the funds to alleviate the condition of the stariving Bundelkhand people.

The state government has been projecting its achievements through the media but is silent on starvation deaths in Bundelkhand. Why this dichotomy IJ Recently the CM said that his government had failed to build its image despite carrying out development schemes. The CM should know that government cannot build its image if people are dying of hunger,” he said.
