BJP is all set to show its strength by holding a massive rally at Rae Bareli where sitting Congress MlC Dinesh Pratap Singh and his supporters likely to join the BJP in the preeence of party chief Amit Shah and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Singh was the leader of Congress legsilature Party in leguislative Council.
With this rally, the BJP will not only show its presence in Rae Bareli, considered a Congress bastion, but also inflict a huge jolt to the grand old party as Singh and his family members are no pushovers.
Singh is a powerful political family as his brother Rakesh Singh is an MlA while another brother Awdhesh Singh is Chairman of Rae Bareli Distri Panchayat.
Sources in the BJP said that it was not clear whether Rakesh would join the party but Awdhesh was set to join the Saffron fold along with Dinesh.
Dinesh and Awadhesh Singh announced to leave Congress on April 10 for which Dinesh was issued a show-cause notice by Congress for indulging in anti-party activities.
In his letter to the Congress brass, Dinesh said that local leaders were working against him and were not giving due credit to him for his work.
BJP sources said that the proposed rally was bound to be a success as the prestige of Dinesh Pratap Singh would be at stake.
Singh wants to show the Congress top brass in New Delhi the kind of hold he has in the area. In-charge of the rally, Hero Bajpai said that it would be a historic gathering as the people were fed up with Congress. “They want a change and the rally will be a precursor of change in Rae Bareli and Amethi,” he said.
Newly elected BJP MlC Vijay Bahadur Pathak confirmed that Amit Shah, Union Textile minister Smriti Irani alongwith Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would address the rally which will be held at GIC grounds.
“This is unfortunate that Rahul Gandhi questions Prime Minister Modi but when people of Amethi ask him about `vikas’, he has no answer. Even after a decade of representing Rae Bareli and Amethi, the area has remained backward. Only the BJP initiated some good projects in the last four years at the Centre and one year of Yogi government in UP,” he claimed.
Two stages, one for Amit Shah and Chief Minister and the other of ministers, legislators and local leaders would be set up at the rally venue at GIC ground.
