BJP has admitted defeat in UP: Akhilesh

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said on Wednesday that the Bharatiya Janata Party had admitted defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha election as it had identified 80 Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh as falling in the ‘red zone’.

Akhilesh Yadav said in a tweet that “the BJP has found that all Lok Sabha seats in UP are in the red zone, that means the people favour the red colour – the colour of the SP. The red power of the SP is the red zone for the BJP.”

The SP chief said the BJP had won the maximum number of Lok Sabha seats from Uttar Pradesh in 2014 and it could be toppled from power by defeating the saffron party in all Lok Sabha constituencies in UP in the 2024 election. He reiterated his claim that the SP would win all 80 Lok Sabha seats of UP in 2024.

Akhilesh Yadav also repeated his new slogan “80 Harao, BJP Hatao” (defeat 80, remove BJP), implying that if the saffron party had to be removed in 2024, it had to be defeated in all Lok Sabha constituencies in UP.

UP has 80 Lok Sabha seats. The SP had only won five in 2019 and lost two of them – Rampur and Azamgarh – to the BJP in the by-elections.

The SP president also targeted the Yogi Adityanath government, saying the law and order situation in UP had turned from bad to worse. “Police are registering an FIR against the ruling MP… Policemen were involved in robbing silver… Stolen goods are being recovered from the police station… What a double-engine government of the BJP!” Yadav said.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Akhilesh Yadav lashed out at the Yogi Adityanath government, saying that the people were suffering from power crisis as the government had enforced undeclared power cuts across the state.

He said despite paying the inflated electricity bills, the power consumers were condemned to suffer power cuts during the intense heatwave. He said the BJP government was indifferent to the plight of the people and the ruling party leaders were busy in tiffin meetings.

The SP chief said the power supply was in shambles as the power distribution infrastructure had collapsed in UP due to mismanagement by the UP government.   He said hundreds of transformers were burning down daily due to spurt in demand, causing disruption in power supply for long hours leading to water crisis.

He said the electorate of Uttar Pradesh would give a befitting reply to the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
