Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday broadsided the Samajwadi Party in Mohammad Azam Khan’s bastion Rampur, saying that the BJP’s double-engine government worked to liberate the poor from the land mafia.
“Bhu mafia ki rassi jal gayi par ainthan nahi gayi” (The land mafia lost all their powers, but they are still showing their attitude). The BJP won’t let Rampur become a ‘den of terrorism’ again,” the chief minister said while addressing public meetings in the Bilaspur and Milak areas in Rampur parliamentary constituency ahead of bypolls in support of BJP candidate Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi.
“Earlier, the mafia used to encroach the land of the poor and suppress them. However, after coming to power, our government gave the land back to the poor and took action against the mafia,” he said.
The CM went on to say that the district has a resplendent history but some people attempted to destroy the heritage of Rampur. “If anyone tries to destroy Rampur’s identity, people know how to teach them a lesson. Today, no one can dare encroach the land of the poor,” Yogi said.
He also lambasted the Samajwadi Party for using the Rampuri ‘chaku’ (knife) for “capturing the property of the poor”.
“It is up to you to decide whom to give the Rampuri knife to. Good people will use it to protect the poor, but wrong people will use it for looting and capturing your properties,” the CM said.
He claimed that after coming to power, the BJP government freed about 640 hectares of land from the mafia in Rampur and gave it back to the poor.
Comparing his government to the previous regimes, Yogi said: “During the Samajwadi Party regime, those accused of rioting were called and honoured at the CM’s residence. After 2017, students are felicitated and ‘Gurbani’ is recited at the CM’s residence. We are also organising ‘Bal Diwas’ in the memory of Sahibzadas.”
Highlighting the works done by his government during the pandemic, the CM maintained that the double engine under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi provided free ration, free treatment and free vaccines to people.
In a veiled attack on Azam Khan, the CM said: ‘Inki rassi jal gayi par ainthan nahi gayi’ We gave the free vaccines to everyone without any discrimination. In fact, those who were in jail were also given free treatment, but they did not even acknowledge it.”
Yogi also accused the opposition parties of hatching a conspiracy and misleading the youth regarding the Agnipath recruitment policy.
The CM appealed to the youth not to get misled by the opposition’s propaganda against the new recruitment scheme for defence forces which, he claimed, was in their and the nation's interest.
He also announced that the Bilaspur sugar mill would be modernised soon as the government has already given the approval.
Speaking at the Milakh assembly constituency, he appreciated the villagers for ‘Amrit Sarovar’ prepared with the help of people and government in the Patwai gram panchayat. The CM said that the dirty pond which was there earlier was a symbol of the thinking of the Samajwadi Party while ‘Amrit Sarovar’ reflects the thinking of the BJP.
