Gearing up for a massive show of strength the state unit of Bharatiya Janata party said here on Tuesday that a record number of people are expected to attend of the first rally of party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Kanpur on October 19.

"All preparation for a grand show is underway. A record number of people will attend this public rally, though we have appealed to the people of other regions to avoid this meeting as they will get a chance to hear Modi in their respective region shortly," state BJP president laxmikant Bajpai said here.

Addressing a press conference, Bajpai said that Party president Rajnath Singh and Party's Prime Minister candidate Modi would be the only guests of the meeting.

"There would be 10 senior party leaders on the dias during the meeting. The party leadership would decide on the names soon," he said while refusing to comment whether former deputy Prime Minister lal Krishna Advani would attend the Kanpur rally or not.

Scores of lED screens would be set up while modern audio system would be in place so that people could hear their leaders, Bajpai said.

The UP BJP president said the reason for launching Modi's rally in UP from Kanpur was that party went blank in the region during the 2009 elections.

"The party is targeting all eight seats in the coming elections. Presently, the ruling SP has six seats covering Etawah, Kannauj, Mainpuri regions while Congress represents two seats," he said.

BJP president also released telephone numbers and websites where the public can get details of Modi's rally.
