BJP demands sacking of Azam Khan

The State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded immediate sacking of state urban development minister Mohammad Azam Khan for making derogatory and unconstitutional remarks against the Governor Ram Naik.  BJP state president Dr laxmi Kany Bajpai said that if the Chief Minister does not take action against Khan it would mean that minister’s barbs against Governor has a silent approval of the Government and Samajwadi Party national president.

“Unconstitutional remarks by Khan against the Governor prove that Samajwadi Party has no faith in the democratic and constitutional system of the country.  Constitution is clear that a minister remains in his seat till he enjoys the pleasure of Governor. It is the greatness of the Governor that he is ignoring such nuisance of Khan,’ he said.

Just to elaborate on this point he said during Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure one of his ministers K K Tiwari had opened a front against the then President of India Giani Zail Singh. The President first warned the minister and then asked Prime Minister to remove him from his cabinet. “We have precedence. So, either Khan should stop making statement against the Governor or the Chief Minister should sacke him from the cabinet,’ he said.

Meanwhile, the BJP legislature party abstained from the Governor’s address in the joint session of state legislature to protest Azam Khan’s statement against the Governor.
