Alleging a large scam in Janani Suraksha Yojana scheme the state unit of BJP has demanded a high level probe saying that over Rs 200 crore has been squandered in last three years.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that in last fiscal over 23 lakh women were benefited under Janani Suraksha Yojana and government spent over Rs 300 crore. Of this one fourth cases are found fake. This means over Rs 75 lakh crore was squandered in just one year, he said.
“Going by this figure it is clear that over Rs 200 crore has gone into the pockets of officials and their political masters in last three years. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav who has been saying that corrupt would be punished should institute an enquiry and expose the scam,” Pathak said.
He said media has been highlighting this issue for long. It has come to light that one woman got the benefit five times in last 10 months. Thus, meaning that she has given birth of five children in that period. Such issues should be exposed by the government, he said.
