BJP demands CBI enquiry in Yadav Singh controversy

Continuing its tirade against Akhilesh Yadav Government the state unit of BJP has demanded a CBI probe into the tainted engineer Yadav Singh controversy saying if Chief Minister was honest he should order the probe immediately.

‘”f the UP government is honest and sincere in preventing corruption it should immediately recommend CBI probe into the Yadav Singh controversy,” state BJP president laxmikant Bajpai told reporters here on Tuesday. He said that Yadav Singh had enjoyed the blessings of both the BSP and the SP Governments. “The present government says that Yadav Singh was reinstated after he was given a clean chit in CB-CID. If that is true, he had amassed this property in present regime and if the misdeed was done during the BSP how he got a clean hit,” he asks.

“The SP and the BSP are two sides of the same coin. SP government is now protecting the corrupt BSP leaders who were charged by lokayukta while BSP helped SP in the assembly by-polls by not fielding candidates,’ he said.He said the Centre would have ordered CBI probe but it cannot do so as such probe requires recommendation from the state government.

Bajpai reiterated that the Samajwadi Party government would not complete its full term and would collapse before 2017. “We are not in favour of imposition of President’s rule nor in horse trading. The inner contradiction in the party is so high that the Government will fall of its own weight,” he said. He also said that UP has turned into a corrupt state and BJP will launch a decisive struggle against it. “The issue of corruption of UP mining minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati and the check dam scam in the state has created much controversy.” BJP president said.

Bajpai said that the membership drive of the party is going on a full steam and has created a sort of record as till date 42 lakhs new membership have been enrolled. Till last year BJP had 31 lakh registered members and now we have a target to make 1.50 crore members, he said.“Now, the party will go to the villages and next three days from December 19 party leaders will stay put in village and make 100 members at the booth level. “There are 1.40 lakh booths in the state and if we can make 100 members in each booth we will easily touch the target,” he said.
