Alleging that SP Government was sympathetic towards the sugar mill owners, the BJP has staged demonstration at the office of the district cane officer and submitted a memorandum demanding the immediate payment of the dues of the farmers worth Rs 9500 crore.
Meanwhile the state BJP has also strongly reacted the tug of war between SP and the BSP, terming it as an eyewash as both have only played the second filddle to the Congress and shielded the corruption of each other whenever they cocupied the power in the state.
The state BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that party workers held demonstartion on Tuesday at the district cane office in Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Meerut, Bijnor, Gorakhpur, Amroha, Hapur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjehanpur, Azamgarh, Mau, Saharanpur, Kannauj, Ghazipur, Kushingar, Deoria and other districts. He said that if the farmers' dues were not paid immediately the party will launch decisive struggle against the state government.
The state BJP spokesman while citing the statement of the senior Cabinet Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav said that it was ridiculous and a futile attempt to divert the attention from the core issues of corruption. "What happned to the promise of the SP that it will constitute a commission to probe the corruption of Mayawati regime" Pathak asked adding that it was not surprising as Mayawati also did not take any step when she came to power in 2007 though prior o it she promised to put Mulayan and others behind the bar.
The BJP spokesman said that comman agenda of the SP- BSP was the looting of state exchequer and in their bid they supplement each other. "As the lok sabha election is coming closer both as subsidiary of the Congress are posing fake aggressiveness against each other only to befool the people but the tactic will fall flat on their face" claimed Pathak.
