A nine-member BJP delegation along with other senior leaders including state chief Keshav Prasad Maurya met Governor Ram Naik and submitted a memorandum over the Kairana exodus issue.
After apprising Naik of the ground reality, they demanded a CBI probe into the eposide and rehabilitation of families who left the place and now wanted to return. The probe team had visited Kairana on June 15.
“After giving us a patient hearing, the Governor assured that he would seek a clarification on our memorandum and will also send a report to the President,” disclosed Maurya.
“We have apprised the Governor of the situation in Kairana and its nearby areas where several hundreds families fled in the past few years. We have demanded that the Raj Bhawan should intervene and seek a report from the state government besides recommending a CBI probe. The government should also chalk out a strategy for the rehabilitation of the affected families,” Maurya said.
The three page report submitted to the Governor talks on the deterioration in the law and order situation.
The probe report said that more time was required to find out answers to the following questions—Why there is no petrol pump in Kairana, how many Hindu families sold their property in the last five years and who had purchased them, how many lPG connections have been transferred to other places outside Kairana, how many children dropped out of school mid-term, how many arms licenses were issued in the last three years and to whom, how many criminals were slapped with NSA, Gangster Act or booked under other charges in the last five years.
BJP MP from Shamli Hukum Singh, who had raised the issue early this month, was also part of the BJP delegation.
Singh said that it was unfortunate that the state government was patronising two criminals Mukim Kala and Furkan even when they have been openly demanding protection money from the people and threatening businessmen.
Maurya said it was not possible to verify each and every name in a day. “The team met around 200 people at a guest house. The situation is more horrifying than one can assess. There is a complete breakdown of law and order situation,” he said.
