The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party came out in defence of the Yogi government after the Samajwadi Party blamed it for hijacking projects of previous regime. The state BJP stressed thet the Yogi government inaugurated or laid the foundation of only those projects which were brought to an operational level by this government.
“The SP is obsessed about their tenure, which was actually full of corruption and misrule. Now they are trying to create problems by misleading people as they know that only the BJP has the potential to carry forward development in UP,” state BJP general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak said on Thursday.
Pathak said that the BJP’s policies are purely development-oriented while the SP government was only keen about the development of its ‘first family’.
“Today the SP is creating hue and cry over the laying of foundation stone of Purvanchal Expressway by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 14. The fact is that the SP laid the foundation stone of the project in 2016 just to misguide people. Neither land for the project was acquired nor work was allotted to any agency. Foundation was just laid for political purposes at that time to fool the people of the state,” he said.
The BJP leader said that this time round, the foundation stone will be laid in the true sense. “Work starts after laying foundation stone and work will be initiated as all permissions about construction of the Expressway have been obtained. Over 95 per cent land has been acquired and work has been allotted to the agency and all tenders have been given to construction company,” he said.
Citing another example, Pathak said that the SP government had inaugurated lucknow-Agra Expressway even though no vehicle was allowed to ply on it.
“later, when the BJP came to power, all facilities were made available, an allocation of Rs 500 crore was made and then the Expressway was opened for public. By inaugurating such unfinished projects, the SP only tried to gain political mileage, but the people knew their intentions and hence voted them out of power,” he said.
Furious over the PM laying the foundation for Purvanchal Expressway, the Samajwadi Party has called a rally in Azamgarh to oppose it on Thursday. Earlier, SP president criticised the BJP for taking credit of the world largest mobile factory of Samsung inaugurated by the PM recently in Noida.
