BJP created ruckus in vidhan Sabha

Published on:

Bharatiya Janata Party members created a din in the Vidhan Sabha over poor law and order situation in the state, forcing Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey to rush through the day’s agenda.

The Assembly was adjourned resulting in the suspension of Question Hour, and later the agenda of the House was completed amid din as BJP workers squatted in the well of the House and continued shouting slogans against the state government.

Even before the House assembled, BJP members entered the Well of the House and as soon as Speaker entered the Assembly, they started raising anti-government slogans. The protesting members also tore the agenda and threw them towards the chair.

Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey tried to pacify BJP members so that the House could run smoothly but his plea fell on deaf ears.

Parliamentary Affairs minister Azam Khan suggested that the members should stage protest with other party workers outside Vidhan Bhawan. “Why are they holding the House to ransom,” he asked.

Initially, the Speaker adjourned the House till 1220 pm from 1105 am and later rushed through the day’s agenda including the passing of supplementary budget and three other bills.

BJP legislator Manis Asija said that his party planned to hold protest outside and inside Vidhan Sabha simultaneously.

“Party workers ledby state BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya held fort outside Vidhan Bhawan while we staged protest inside Assembly against the government’s failure to control crime,” said Asija.
