The Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged that ruling Samajwadi Party leaders were intimidating opposition candidates and have even carried our murderous attacks on them.
BJP state president Dr lakshmi Kant Bajpai has given a memorandum to State Election Commissioner S.K. Agarwal requesting him to provide a level playing field in this election for the candidates of different political hue.
“In village Gadsaan in Firozabad district Samajwadi Party activists attacked BJP supporters when they were out for electioneering. Vehicles were damaged in the attack and many BJP workers received injuries. SP MlA Hariom Yadav is behind this attack because his son is also in the fray,” BJP chief said in his memorandum
He said a complaint was lodged with the District Magistrate but he did not take any action. No FIR was lodged. Administration’s negligence led to another incident in Firozabad where SP workers attacked BJP supporters in ward 30. There too administration has taken no action, he said.
“In another incident in Chinhat, at the outskirts of lucknow, BJP candidate Sarita Yadav was threatened by SP workers. She was asked not to do electioneering,” he said.
BJP state general secretary Virendra Tiwari said that in many villages around Sarojini Nagar, Chinhat and Malihabad the supporters of ruling party were obstructing BJP’s poll campaign. “The police has turned a deaf ear to BJP’s pleas,” he said.
Agarwal has assured quick action against the guilty.
The BJP Chief has also demanded that second phase of panchayat election should be held on October 15 instead of 13 as Navratri begins that day and people would be busy in religious rituals.
