Blaming the ruling Samajwadi Party for promoting caste politics, the state BJP said that the caste composition of the 31 candidates declared for the Council polls only reflected the mindset of ruling party leadership.
“The BJP has always been saying that the SP promoted caste politics. Our stand has been vindicated by the list of candidates of Samajwadi Party. Of the 31 candidates, 16 are Yadavs,” BJP spokesman Harishchandra Srivastava said in a statement in lucknow Wednesday.
He said the ruling party projects itself as a propagator of Socialism and this is the brand of Socialism the party practices.
“The SP’s brand of politics has been exposed. People now know that the ruling party is the benefactor of Yadavs only and therefore other castes suffer in Akhilesh Raj,” Srivastava said. The BJP leader also talked about the recent appointments in government sector in which Yadavs were given preference over others. “It was for the first time that the State Service Selection Board while declaring results only gave roll numbers, not names. The court had to intervene in the matter,” he said. “Casteism, appeasement and money power can destroy the ethics of democracy. This is happening in UP as the Samajwadi Party is more concerned about promoting caste than Samajwad in the real sense,” BJP spokesman said.
