Alleging there was no rule of law in UP, the BJP said that instead of bringing crime rate down the SP Government was more interested in celebrating Mulayam Singh Yadav’s birthday at Saifai in a lavish style.
“Akhilesh Yadav is an obedient son and has the right to celebrate his father’s birthday in a grand style. But he is also the Chief Minister of the state and has responsibility towards people. When people are being killed, he should step in and stop the mayhem,” BJP national spokesman Shahanawaz Hussain told reporters in lucknow on Thursday.
The BJP leader referred to statistics claiming that 49 girls were raped by the police personnel inside the police stations in 2014-15 while there was a rise in crime against women by over 59 per cent during 2013-14.
When asked about the preparation for UP Assembly polls in 2017, the BJP leader said ‘learning a lesson from the Bihar polls, the party has started preparing for UP.’’
When asked since BJP has lost in Bihar will it meet the same fate in UP, the BJP spokesman said : “In a cricket match when a team loses a match, it does not mean that it will lose all the matches. The BJP had won ‘matches’ in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Haryana and even Jammu and Kashmir where the pitch was really tricky. We have got over our loss in Delhi and Bihar.”
Elaborating the reasons for the Bihar debacle, Hussain said that the BJP lost because of arithmetic. “During the lok Sabha polls, we got almost 1.30 crore votes. In this election too, we got the same number of votes. This shows there is no decline in our penetration. We lost this time because anti-BJP parties consolidated against us,” said he.
