BJP asks Akhilesh to clear stand on illegal mining

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Uttar Pradesh unit has asked former chief minister and Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav to clear his stand on illegal mining carried out during his regime, saying the CBI raids have exposed how corrupt the previous government was.

BJP state spokesman Dr Chandramohan told reporters during a daily press briefing that the CBI carried out raids against officers who were posted at important positions during the Akhilesh Yadav regime.

“The raids raise a big question mark on the style of working of Akhilesh Yadav and he should clarify his stand,” the BJP state spokesman said here on Sunday.

Chandramohan pointed out that the raids were carried out by the CBI on the directives of the Allahabad High Court. He said the mining minister in the Akhilesh Yadav government was also reprimanded by the court.

“This shows that the Akhilesh Yadav government was neck-deep in corruption and the mines were used to mint money for the ruling party,” the BJP state spokesman said.

When asked about the alliance between the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party, Chandramohan said that it was a pact between corrupt parties.

“People know that both the parties have expertise in making money and will be taught a lesson in the coming election,” he said.

“The next election will be between a clean party like BJP and an alliance of corrupt parties. It is no secret whom the people will support,” the BJP state spokesman said.
