A man accused of bike jacking 37 years back was arrested by the Mathura police on Thursday evening. The accused carried a cash reward of Rs 20,000 for his arrest.

As per reports, a bank manager was robbed of his motorcycle in Managadhi area by three miscreants and a case was registered with the Mathura police in 1983.

After two of the perpetrators were nabbed, they disclosed the identity of the third aide as Raghunath Singh of Aligarh. After failing to drop the net on him, the police put him on the ‘wanted’ list and he continued to evade arrest for almost four decades.

While pursuing the wanted criminals’ list in recent weeks, senior police officers announced a cash reward of Rs 20,000 on Raghunath and a fresh hunt was launched.

On Thursday, a source close to the other two accused tipped off the police about Raghunath’s presence in Mathura. After this, a police team raided the place and arrested him.

The accused was produced before a local court and sent to jail on Friday.

Meanwhile in Kasganj, a couple and their child were killed while five others were injured when two cars — a BMW and a Swift Dzire — collided head-on in Nagaria area of Soro police station area on Agra-Bareilly highway on Friday.

Both cars were badly damaged.

While three occupants of the Swift Dzire died on the spot, two others in the Dzire and three occupants of the BMW were injured. The deceased were identified as Dinesh, his wife Nisha and their son Babu.

The Swift Dzire was headed to Rampur from Shikohabad while the BMW was going to Gujarat from Budaun.

A case was registered and the bodies were sent for autopsy.
