Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the state government had made tremendous improvement in the health sector by not only providing ambulances at doorsteps of patients but also ensuring free medicines in government hospitals.

Yogi was speaking at a function held at Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur where he dedicated two ambulances, two advanced support ambulances and a blood donation van donated by Power Grid Corporation under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) scheme to the people.

The Chief Minister said that the Union government launched Ayushman Bharat health protection scheme under which poor people could get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per annum in not only state-run hospitals but also in private hospitals and nursing homes.

“The Government of India provided 150 advanced life support ambulances to the state government, which in turn sent two such ambulances to each district. This facility has saved the lives of 78,000 people so far,” Yogi said.

The Chief Minister further said that the state government had also expanded 102 and 108 ambulance services and work was on to reduce the response time.

“Health services are being improved in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Dialysis has been started in Gorakhnath temple hospital in collaboration with private sector. Blood donation has also improved because of the zeal shown by NGOs (non-governmental organisations) and private institutions. Life of poor people can be changed if private and government sectors work together,” Yogi said.

Senior officials of Power Grid Corporation and Gorakhpur district administration were present on the occasion.
