When state government has put the Rs Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ on top priority and chief minister even forming a special task force to initiate legal proceedings against those indulged in female foeticide, two of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) MlAs in Aligarh created ruckus after a team of Rajasthan police along with Pre-Conception and Pre-natal Diognostic Technical Cell (PCPNDT) raided a diagnostic centre in Aligarh and held a doctor couple red handed while conducting sex determination test.
Surprisingly even when the district magistrate of Aligarh reportedly intervened to let the Rajasthan team carry out their operation without any hurdle, under pressure of the two MlAs, the doctors couple were released. However the ultrasound machine along with the digital video recorder (DVR), were seized by the police.
Reports said that a join team of Rajasthan police and members of PCPNDT raided a ultrasound centre in Aligarh run by Doctor Jayant Sharma and his wife, on Tuesday. The team found the doctor couple conducting sex determination test so they immediately held the doctor to initiate legal proceedings. In the meantime, two local MlAs of the BJP, Sanjeev Raja, representing Aligarh Cantonment seat and Anil Parashar, representing KOIl seat, reached the spot and created ruckus reportedly asking the Rajasthan police to release the doctor and also not to take any legal action.
Sources said that the team, who already informed district magistrate of Aligarh, Dr Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod, before raiding the diagnostic centre, had once again appraised him about the unlawful interference of the two MlAs. The DM reportedly tried to convince the leaders to let the team carry forward the operation but the two MlAs first tried to force to return without any action and later get the doctor released on the ground that how any one could be arrested even before carry out investigation in the matter. later under the pressure of the local BJP leaders, the district administration could only help the Rajasthan police to seal the Ultrasound machines and DVR of the ultrasound and to carry remaining action at later stages. The Rajasthan police subsequently released the doctor and left back.
