Congress Working Committee(CWC) member and Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma charged that the entertainment by the ruling Samajwadi Party at Saifai was an example of state of rule in the State and showed the insensitiveness of this government.
"I am saddened with such incidents when a government turns insensitive towards the poor riot victims of Muzaffarnagar, reeling under extreme cold conditions and the politicians enjoying the night with Bollywood stars," he said.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday afternoon, Verma hitting on his erstwhile friend Mulayam Singh Yadav, said that the Samajwadi Party leader has forgotten all his ethics and it is a shameful act on part of him to enjoy the night with the gals of Bollywood. "Mulayam has different face from time to time and has always indulged in double speak," he further alleged. "Even when someone dies in the neighbourhood, food is not prepared in homes, but these people are busy in mauj-masti (fun and frolic)....crores of rupees of the public exchequer have been spent in Saifai," Verma told reporters here.
The Union Minister also criticised the UP legislator team on foreign trip. "Such trip is only legal when it is led by the Speaker of the Assembly. Such trip under the leadership of Mohammad Azam Khan has been conducted only for enjoyment and merry making," he said.
Talking about the future of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Verma said that for the past two years he was pleading that Rahul Gandhi is the only eligible PM candidate of the country."Mr Gandhi should be announced as the PM candidate by the party and Ms Priyanka Vadra, his sister should assist him in the organisation," he further said pointing towards her active participation in the Organisation.
Ruling out any impact of the Aam Admi Party(AAP) during the coming lok Sabha elections, Verma said that in Uttar Pradesh there is no relevance of the AAP. Talking about the Muzaffarnagar riot victims plight, he said that Steel ministry is ready to provide Rs 10 crore to the UP government for relief work in the riot hit areas. "But UPgovernment will have to ensure us that they will honestly spend the funds for the poor people of the riot hit areas," he said.
The union minister also claimed that after his announcement about steel camps steel for riot victims, the relief camps in Muzaffarnagar were bulldozed. Alleging that Muzaffarnagar riots were instigated byNarendra Modi and Mulayam Singh Yadav for polarising votes in their favour, Verma claimed that Yadav was pushing Modi by claiming that BJP's seats would increase in the coming polls.
Union minister was also peeved over non- holding of any political rallies in UP by the Congress. " When BJP and other political parties are holding rallies, Congress should not lag behind in going before the people with their achievements," he said. He announced that a conference of Backwards and Minorities would be held here on January 11 under the banner of Dalit-Backward- Minority Manch. He also claimed that the Manch is a forum of the Congress.
