Former Union minister and Congress Working Committee(CWC) member Beni Prasad Verma put aside speculation behind Priyanka Vadra Gandhi taking active politics.
``No, in my knowledge she would kept herself engaged in the same role of nursing the Rae Bareli and Amethi Parliamentary constituency, represented by her mother Sonia and brother Rahul Gandhi”, asserted Beni Prasad while out rightly rejecting the much pulicised campaign by senior Congress leaders that Priyanka would soon own more responsibility in the Congress.
``Rahul Gandhi would continue to lead the Congress under the guidance of Sonia Gandhi and the day would come soon when communal forces will be defeated and secular government would took charge under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi”, former union minister added while talking to media persons here on Wednesday afternoon. Defending the Gandhi family of the allegations made in his book for former cabinet minister Natwar Singh, Beni Prasad Verma said that an efforts has been made to present wrong picture of Sonia Gandhi as well as Congress Party in the autobiography.
Former MP from Gonda also ruled out any possibility of his leaving the Party and joining the Samajwadi Party . ‘’ Nor I am interested in leaving the Congress nor anyone has invited me in the Samajwadi Party,’’ Verma said while refusing that Mulayam Singh Yadav had invited him for Janeshwar Mishra birth anniversary function on Tuesday. ``Amar Singh’s presence in the function here in the state capital could be any effort for reconciling between the two leaders but I am confident that there is little chance that Singh could rejoin the party,’’ he further opined. Verma said that he is a Congressman and continue to be the same at any cost. ‘’ It is not so easy for Amar Singh to rejoin the SP as there are several leaders there who would oppose his entry. But he can get the Rajya Sabha ticket as Mulayam Singh Yadav still finds him as his closest friend,’’ the leader disclosed. He also said that several senior administrative officers including those getting entry into chief minister’s secretariat recently were close to Amar Singh when he was in the party and Akhilesh would certainly face difficulties in dealing with them if Mulayam facilitate entry of Amar Singh into Samajwadi Party.
