Once again stirring the hornet’s nest Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma said that backwards are ''fools who dance to the tunes of Mulayam Singh Yadav'
'The backwards of the state are fools as they have supported the Samajwadi Party without getting their share. It is only the Yadavs who have got the entire chunk of benefits in the name of backwards while the others got nothing,' he said while addressing workers of Congress party in Etah on Sunday.
Verma, who is minister in charge of the Congress of Etah, said for Samajwadi Party only backwards are Mulyam Singh Yadav, Shivpal Singh Yadav, Ram Gopal Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav, Ravindra Yadav and now even Ankit Yadav.
He said Uttar Pradesh is a vast state and almost 21 per cent population of the state comprises backwards. The Yadavs are in a single digit. "Other backwards should also get their share," he said.
'I was also a fool when I was with the SP but I realised my folly after joining the Congress,' he said while appealing to the backwards to support the Congress as "it was the only party that fought for the development of all sections of the society."
Meanwhile, the minister had to face protest in Aligarh when the supporters of the Congress district president raised slogans against him for ignoring senior district leaders. Verma was forced to skip his Aligarh trip due to the protest.
