Claiming a victory for the party in the just concluded Panchayat election Bharatiya Janata party said that people have reposed faith on BJP despite machination by ruling party and state machinery.
“Though Samajwadi Party officially remained aloof from the election but it supported candidates through back door. Ministers, legislators and party workers used official machinery to ensure victory for them. Despite this, the BJP has marched ahead and has increased its tally 10 times,” BJP state president Dr laxmi Kant Bajpai said in a written statement issued here on Monday.
He claimed that against 58 kshetra panchayat seats party had won last time this year the party had so far won 531 seats and in over 100 seats party lost elections by a close margin.
“Once all the results are out the party will review Panchayat election,” he said.
Hitting out at the claims of ruling SP that it had swept the elections he said the claims were hollow as it has not officially declared its candidate. “Only BJP had officially announced candidates because it does not want to keep people at dark. What we are claiming is in white and black,” he said.
“How can a party claim victory in elections when its leaders had tried to disrupt election. In some places when it became clear that ruling party candidate will lose polls, counting was stopped and in re-count SP supported candidate was declared elected,” he said.
Bajpai said that this has exposed the lies of the Samajwadi party Government. This election has proved that SP’s popularity is on wane, he said.
