The scramble to win votes in the last phase of assembly elections in UP saw Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav launching a no-holds-barred attack on the BJP and the PM Narendra Modi. At a rally in Jaunpur on Monday Akhilesh termed Modi’s back-to-back rallies and road show in Varanasi as a `sign of desperation’.
“Cycle (election symbol of SP) has trapped the PM in Varanasi that he is staying in Varanasi for the last three days. I passed the test of the people in one road show but PM has not passed even after two road show so he held the third road show on Monday’’, said Akhilesh adding`` earlier the prime minister was known for globetrotting and frequent foreign visits now he is not willing even to go back to Delhi’’. Akhilesh also repeated his jibe at PM that `he is ready to swap seats with PM Modi if he doesn’t desire to be in Delhi anymore’.
Akhilesh also tried to punch holes in the promise of the loan waiver for the small and marginal farmer in BJP’s manifesto. ``If they BJP was sincere for the cause of the farmers they could have given the facility of the loan waiver in states like MP, Maharashtra and other BJP ruled state but they never did so how can they fulfil this promise in UP’’. Akhilesh promise3d to waive off the outstanding loans of the farmers up to Rs One lakh after forming the next government in the State.
In his bid to counter the sustained criticism of his government by the BJP and the Prime Minister Akhilesh Yadav said “He (Modi) did a lot of Mann Ki Baat on both TV and radio shows, people are yet to know what is in his mind. People want to know when he will do `Kaam ki Baat’. The BJP does not have any agenda and do not trust them,”. He added Akhilesh said, adding “I have never seen such a PM”.
The Yadav scion said the PM was yet to fulfil his promise of ‘acche din’ while listing out the works of his government, including ambulance services, dedicated 100 number for police, medical college, constructions of roads etc. lashing out at Modi for criticising his government over poor electricity, he claimed that the Samajwadi government has managed to give over 22 hours of power in cities and 14-18 hours of electricity in villages.
Akhilesh was unsparing on Mayawati, on whom he said people slept in her rally while she was reading long speeches. Akhilesh also asked what development happened during her tenure. “Who will believe such a leader who created her own statues...beware of my bua, she could join hands with BJP at any time,” he warned.
