Even as the government ducked for cover facing public outcry over increasing cases of sexual assault on women, a BA first year student was kidnapped and gang-raped in Agra while a rape victim of Rae Bareli reached the chief minister’s residence in Lucknow on Wednesday morning to demand action against the rapists.
In Agra, a BA student of a local college and a resident of Etmadpur informed Police Control Room that she left her house to join her classes on Wednesday morning. She said on the way, four friends of her cousin told her that her brother had met with an accident and sent them to bring her to hospital. The girl said that believing them, she sat on their four-wheeler but instead of taking her to hospital, they headed to the highway. They later took her to a field and raped her at gun point.
After she became unconscious, the miscreants dumped her in Pachukhera locality and escaped. After regaining consciousness, the victim called up the police on Wednesday afternoon.
After visiting the site, IG Agra Range, A Satish Ganesh, said that a case was registered, the girl was sent for medical examination and teams had been formed to nab the rapists.
Meanwhile in Lucknow, a woman from Rae Bareli reached Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Kalidas Marg residence and pleaded for justice and security of her family form the rapists.
She also sought mercy killing in case the police failed to act against the culprits.
Staff at the chief minister’s residence sent the victim to Hazratganj police station and assured her of necessary action in the matter.
As per reports, the victim and her family members reached the chief minister’s Kalidas Marg residence on Wednesday morning. She said that some goons living in her neighbourhood threatened her husband and when she interfered, they took her at gun point and gang-raped her a year back.
The woman said she had complained to the local police and got a case registered but no action was taken. This emboldened the rapists and they continued to threaten her to withdraw the case.
Meanwhile in Banda, a youth attempted to rape a nine-year-old girl on Tuesday.
The victim, a resident of Tindwari, was called by her neighbour Rahul Yadav, who asked her to get gutka for him. When she returned with the gutka, he took her to a nearby field and tried to rape her. When the girls screamed for help, the miscreant fled the scene.
